Hollywood has a formula that it can't seem to escape. A hero forms a posse of colorful allies with big hearts who are in love with the hero. There's an evil adversary and she has a posse of despicable, frightening and evil allies. The movie is a buildup to the final showdown. The two do battle. The hero wins. The adversary is humilated and most of his posse is killed. There's a closing scene where everyone agrees life is great and the credits roll. It's Star Wars meets Harry Potter, Avatar meets Indiana Jones. Nejvyšší soud potvrdil podmínku za pirátského Harryho Pottera. Zamítl totiž dovolání nakladatele Vlastimila Svobody, který za za vydání pirátských výtisků knihy Harry Potter a Ohnivý pohár dostal také pokutu 300.000 korun. Verdikt padl nedávno bez veřejného jednání, dnes se objevil v databázi usnesení. Svoboda od počátku vinu popírá a tvrdí, že odpovědnost nese jiný zaměstnanec nakladatelství. Soudy mu uložily roční vězení s odkladem na 2,5 roku a peněžitý trest. Nejvyšší soud už do případu jednou zasáhl, když kauzu vrátil k novému projednání. Tentokrát už soudci k podobnému zásahu nenašli důvod. Trestného činu se Svoboda dopustil tím, že vydal pokyn k vytištění a distribuci díla, na které neměl autorská práva.

Went to see Sherlock Holmes today starring two great actors -- a total waste -- one of the dumbest two hours of movie ever. Teens like it, it's sort of a cross between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Harry Potter, with yes, a little of the puzzle-master Sherlock Holmes. The kids are likely to think "You know this literature stuff ain't so bad," but this is not Sherlock Holmes it's Sherlock Potter, or Indiana Holmes. But not as entertaining. Sigh. Bad bad bad bad.
